Up From The Sunken Place (Poem)

Rain, snow and hail fall down, down, down

Compost and fertilizer worked into the ground

From these come sprouting living growth

Faithful like keepers of the oath

The jesters mock us all about

Doing their best to drown us out

But like us, their jig is up

Time to pour out from the cup

The greatest good still lies in God

Who comes to rule by Throne and Rod

Water of Life for those who will

Freely given to cure our ill

Up, look up, behold the grace

As we rise from the sunken place
