Christmas In My Heart (Poem)

Image
Christmas In My Heart Today a gift is given, so that we may give to others A savior has come to us, we need not fear Let us live in love, and spread this cheer Now is a time for reflection, time for light-hearted joy He wants us to be happy like a kid with a new toy It’s only once a year, but should be for each day To receive God’s greatest gift, no one has to pay There’s something about Christmas that makes things alright Although there will be darkness, it won’t drown out the light So let my prayer tonight be one for all the lands That people may know the peace Jesus commands For now, I ask for the courage to start By living each day with Christmas in my heart Written by Joseph Albrecht Photo by  Walter Chávez  on  Unsplash

Let it Out (Poem)

Image
How many days just seem to come and go? In all the chaos it's hard to really know Potential lying within your heart All that's needed is a push to start Motivation can be hard to find But once unleashed, it's hard to fall behind Our needs and desires haven't really changed And people more or less have remained the same Yet some days it seems we rise above Maybe this is a display of doing what you love So never hide behind fear and doubt Instead, be inspired to let it all out Procrastination is a costly thing For we don't know what tomorrow will bring Or even if it will be there at all Time to step forth from against the wall And it may not take much to let your passion out Sometimes a mere whisper has more strength than a shout photo @shanerounce (Unsplash.com)

Window of Chances Poem

Image
What a great big world it is out there With so much to do, so much to share Some days I hit it running, with all my care Others I step back and out the window I stare There chances enough for each given day It's a matter of searching some may say Not giving up on that dearest dream Finding the strength to paddle upstream Once I was told to listen to my inner voice That would always guide me to the right choice It's a great thing when this voice is found But its often hard to hear its sound So back to drawing board, assessing my plan Organizing my time as best as I can I sincerely thank those who've offered assistance Now it's off to the pathway of least resistance

A Chance Taken Poem

Image
A chance taken is one never wasted No matter the outcome, at least you can say you've faced it Experience is something that many commend But to attain it, we either break or bend The struggle's seldom glorified, unlike the end results We advertise the compliments; bury the insults So what do we see when looking with our eyes? A genuine smile, or an ultimate disguise? The heart keeps its pace as the mind makes its move Constantly seeking for ways to improve Despite all the chatter and many bold words When it comes to what matters, there's little to be heard But silence can be crucial towards our perspective Trying to solve life's riddle like a detective I have faith in the process of how things will turnout And motivation enough to smother any doubt Because a chance taken is one never wasted I never lost a dream, as long as I chose to chase it

Lend a Hand Poem

Image
Some days life is tough; and we can't understand And that's when we may look for someone to lend a hand But sometimes that someone happens to be our self Whether we make it known, or conceal it in stealth After all, we're all people with our problems to share But it helps to have people you can count on to care Be it family, be it friends, be it complete strangers We never really know how people are life changers Lend a hand, take a risk, even if for yourself For in time, you may find a lasting sense of wealth The unknown can be fierce; like a tiger hunting pray But it beats the routine of another dull day If you find nothing changes, then perhaps it's for the best No one can really thrive without being put to the test Outside of comfort zones are where things tend to grow Otherwise we think and wonder, but never really know

Message to Gov/Papers on Venezuela

To whom it may concern; In 2016, I was hopeful when I heard Candidate Trump advocate against foreign interference in the affairs of other nations; especially their governmental affairs. Yet today, I watch as we seem to repeat history by meddling once-again with the democratically-elected President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro. Furthermore, President Trump and many other U.S. government leaders refuse to recognize Maduro, instead recognizing someone (Juan Guaido) who was never elected and whom many of us have never heard of; knowing little or nothing about. This scenario presents me with some important questions: 1. What right does the U.S have to be in Venezuela when we were not invited there and have been specifically told by their Elected President, Maduro that we are not welcome in the country? 2. What right does the U.S. have to decide who is and is not a legitimate leader of another nation? 3. How can we claim to promote and defend democracy when we refuse to recognize dem

Always Looking Further Poem

Image
Always Looking Further You lay out your emotions before my very eyes Like folding out the laundry after it has dried It sure has been a long way we have come so far Yet you still see it your way; and so here we are You’re always looking further; causing me to do the same I guess if you were not here in the past I would remain In your eyes I see the promise of brighter days ahead But I still know where I came from; so I’m careful where I’m led The efforts that I’ve made have not been in vain Planning my next moves, I prepare for the rain You’re always looking further; into the great void out there I gaze out in the distance, and I wonder as I stare If I take a new direction, then I can say that I tried If I stay right where I am now, will my hopes be satisfied? Still I look on to the future, with a smile on my face I see the gifts that each day brings me, and I thank God for such grace You’re always looking further; and now I know the reason why It’
