Exemplary of sustainability enjoyable on a wide scale for society.  Any coincidence Bhutan is the worlds first 100% organic nation?

Message from madeinusaforever.com founder, Todd Lipscomb on how we as consumers can help the US debt/deficit

As the battle over the Washington’s budget deficit heats up again, it is timely to point out that even a partial solution to the trade deficit would be a huge source of government revenue without raising taxes. Presently, the billions of dollars that leave our economy daily mean not only fewer jobs at USA factories and their suppliers, but also much less tax revenue collected at every level of government. For example, if a factory that employs 10,000 Americans moves to Asia, we’re not just putting Americans out of work. We’re also losing all the taxes those employees would have paid, those the workers at their suppliers would have paid, and so on. That web of economic activity not only disappears, but so do the tax revenues that would have been collected! Thus, the more that is Made in USA, the more tax revenue the government collects. Indeed, the correlation between the rise of the budget deficit (excluding Social Security transfers) and the trade deficit since 1970 is very tight.

My Perspective Poem

When I’m done adding up, I’m left with senseless numbers I have had enough of being shoved down under This rug of emptiness, although I try to fill it up more Comes back to bring me down, and I just feel it rupture Few will really listen as this takes up their time Besides, my reputation isn’t really up to prime Yea sure I have support, yet I must support myself There’s nothing to retort, but to come out of the stealth Living my life like there’s really no one else Knowing what it’s like to feel poor with such great wealth  Let me ask you this, have you really had a dream Then tried to live it out and find it’s not what it seemed? I’ve been there before, opened up the locked door Only to find out that I was not on the right floor Picking myself up, when the burden piles on Trying to share it, because I can’t do it alone  I try not to use scapegoats, telling the truth on my own Yet here too I fall short of a point of satisfaction I’ve seen enough division and far too m

Bars for Our Scars

As we think about the things that were done Long after all the bells have wrung We start to realize what we can become If we value love over an increased sum If we value life, no matter where it's from We'd shine brighter than the brightest sun But some are just in for the short run Rush to the top and don't stop to think That while on your climb many still sink Pretend it's not there, yet it won't lack Some people get a meal, others just a snack Still others left with an empty pack Yet we're confused about who to attack When we take life, we can't get it back For the victims of all senseless violence For those who live in relentless silence For all the fear growing inside our hearts For the love right hear, it never departs If you say peace is a temporary virtue It wouldn't be if you forgave all those that hurt you Looking at a new horizon once more I see a life where persistence is the cure Colorblind, never mind divisions so impure Now we may see a li

Victory for Me Poem

Image
A victory for me means fair trade, not just free Agreements that treat all incomes equally You won’t hear this shouted on the radio But you shouldn’t doubt it could really grow Forget GDP for a second and just think What would it take for us not to sink To a world where consumption is king And we care not for the harm it will bring That right there is to ditch the status quo Starting from anew, keeping in the know New gardens of hope will begin to grow When we never let love and truth go We can and do value the pursuit of happiness But what if we adored being happy with less? Dollars are just paper, coated with green Excess money often serves as a smoke screen Truth cannot be bought, it must be lived So I seek to show it in the good that I give I’m wealthy in the values I carry out Rich in using faith to end times of doubt Believing in the good that sustains the best Veiwing life as I should, an ultimate test We can skip the excess drama,

Are we Syrious?

Chemical weapons are a deadly thing But so is the militarism we bring Killed by the former or latter If Haliburton profits, it won't matter At home, we have enough wars to fight Class warfare with no end in sight Environment that's quickly dying Millions spent on domestic spying Infrastructure falling to pieces Violence growing with diseases But why tackle all these things When few corporate profits it brings? Assad is a bloody dictator for sure But do we need another big war? Tackle the major issues at home And we won't see more war syndrome

Crossing the Divide Poem

Image
I change the world with the simple in my life Forget the excess luxury that only breeds more strife Think twice and act once before I’m in regret Learn, live, love and forgive, it’s never done yet In this world we’re crafted to consume To break this mold is to start to feel the fume Of the master planners who want you to resume To a life of pure consumption, without real function Just puppets on the same string of corruption Wealth buys the way to craft a distorted world Once it becomes finished, the chaos is unfurled Yet we build a fake divide, over the right side When behind this fiasco is our selfish pride Unity is hard when we’d rather use others Treat them as commodities, but never as our brothers Realizing these simple things takes consideration It means turning away from all discrimination You can ignore my message, but it will not ignore you I’m just painting your picture from a different point of view
