Bars for Our Scars

As we think about the things that were done Long after all the bells have wrung We start to realize what we can become If we value love over an increased sum If we value life, no matter where it's from We'd shine brighter than the brightest sun But some are just in for the short run Rush to the top and don't stop to think That while on your climb many still sink Pretend it's not there, yet it won't lack Some people get a meal, others just a snack Still others left with an empty pack Yet we're confused about who to attack When we take life, we can't get it back For the victims of all senseless violence For those who live in relentless silence For all the fear growing inside our hearts For the love right hear, it never departs If you say peace is a temporary virtue It wouldn't be if you forgave all those that hurt you Looking at a new horizon once more I see a life where persistence is the cure Colorblind, never mind divisions so impure Now we may see a life different from before
