My Testimony

Image
Your kingdom I don’t deserve; But I am on my final nerve. I know that I would be let in, If you forgave all of my sin, But I know that is unlikely, For your angles are unlike me, They all overcame this world, While to hell I am ever hurled.

Reflections of a Marcher

The rain, cold and wind didn't keep my father and I from joining the March Against Monsanto in Hauppauge, Long Island.  I, along with approximately 100 others, showed support for the restoration of soundness to America's agricultural system.  As a consumer and future dietitian, I want to make health-supporting decisions without worrying about unknowns.  The lack of any  long term, double blind, placebo-controlled studies reflects the dark nature of genetic modification.  Michael Taylor, currently running the FDA, was a former Monsanto lobbyist.  No wonder why the FDA claims GMOs are safe for human consumption when the fox is guarding the hen house. The march was just another way of getting my message out to others who may feel similar.  Consumers, scientists, politicians, farmers and health professionals are rapidly discovering the many flaws of GMO crops.   The lack of MSM coverage was disheartening, but citizen journalism is having a bigger impact, as it is more in tune wi

Experiment Poem

Image
Experiment What if we chose to be guided by love? Listening to great wisdom from above? We’d see less of constant remorse. Embarking on a sound discourse, We’d let our troubles to themselves, Like dust covering empty shelves. Call me wishful, with my head in the clouds. I’ll still push on when darkness shrouds. The vision of truth is not fantastic. It sees through lies just like clear plastic. No, we need not defeat each other, Just to have tomorrow smother, Our better nature.

My Inspiration: People Who've Encouraged and Motivated Me

You Poem

Image
You I don’t want to be alone, Left out here all on my own. Feelings inside numb themselves, When I’m not with someone else. Although I feel too far from you, I simply wish this wasn’t true. Fear prevents my would-be acts. I succumb to frequent attacks. In my heart, I’m capable, But my doubt makes me disable. You’re the light from far away. I search to grasp it every day. You shine so bright within the mist. Your ways of sight, I can’t resist. Raise my feelings from the blue; By making just one wish come true.

Bond of Two

Image
A special poem for Mom on Mother's Day. Bond of Two  Some say I am intelligent, and many say I’m kind. But, I would never be these things if you left me behind. People say I’m caring, with a good head and big heart. But, I couldn’t live up to this, were you and I to part. Our bond must remain solid, never to be broken. It carries great meaning, more than any word that’s spoken. If I were to discard your ways, it’d be to no avail. For I’d realize, you’re my great prize, that helps me when I fail. On this special day for you, and many loving others; I cannot say we’d be ok, were it not for such great mothers.

Manifesto Against Monsanto

Manifesto against Monsanto We have all of these laws protecting Monsanto. If we try to throw them out, judges say that they can’t go. I scream out loud, judge, you know justice is scant though. The poison biotech firms shall reap what they sow. May 25, I’ll be marching for sure, Along with others demanding a cure, To enact this cure we must kill the disease. Have all GMO CEOs begging on their knees. The science is behind us, and we’re growing in number. Awake, sleeping giant, from your decades long slumber. Michael Taylor went from Monsanto to head of FDA? It just makes me sick, this legislative decay. The farmers, the scientists and politicians must demand That Monsanto and their cronies won’t draw lines in the sand. This one and only earth, contains just so much precious land. All should always work to help everyone hand in hand. May 25, I’ll be marching, and I hope you’ll join me making a stand.

March Against Monsanto

Image
Make a note of it, May 25th, everywhere is March Against Monsanto.  As consumers, we should have the freedom of choice to know what is and is not genetically modified.  The science behind GMOs, as Jeffery Smith, Vandana Shiva, Gary Null, Michael Adams and others have shown, is inadequate to say the least.  I write articles and lyrics, garden and try to consume as few GMOs as possible, and will be taking part in this global march.

Tribute to Bradley Manning (System of a Down Hypnotize Cover)

What do you think happened in Afghanistan? Bradley Manning saw things he just could not stand. He’s on trial, in denial. How can one man run this mile? Manning’s sitting in his cell and waiting for his… He’s scared the prison will never let him go, Revealing the truth, so everyone may know, Left forsaken, never taken. All his peace now has been shaken. Manning’s sitting in his cell and waiting for his time. Manning’s sitting in his cell and waiting for his time. Manning’s sitting in his cell and waiting for his time. Manning’s sitting in his cell and waiting for his time.

What it's about (What it's Like Cover)

True story.  My dad and I took a walk around the neighborhood while on vacation in Florida.  A man in ragged clothes came up to us, saying he's from Georgia, and needs thirteen dollars to stay in a cheap room for the night.  My dad asked the man if fifty dollars could get him back to Georgia, giving his name, number and mailing address, telling the man to send the money back once he was settled.  It's no shock that the money never showed up, but the deeper message of helping the least among us resonated in my heart.  In the spirit of Everlast, here's a condensed parody, sung to the tune of What it's Like.   I’m walking with my dad down in the Florida sun. A man walks up and he asks us for a modest sum. My dad saw the man and wanted him to be thrifty. Though he asked for 13 dollars, he walked away with fifty. I looked at my dad, saying what was that all about? He said, Joe, those of us with must help those of us without. Then I realized what it’s about
