Katrina's Dance

Hot off the press lyrics I wrote for the Rippingtons' instramental Jazz song "Katrina's Dance". Katrina’s Dance Baby, know that I’m right here.  I’ll be standing in your fear, I won’t forget All the times you were there for me. Darling, know that it is alright.  I will always hold you tight, I’m here with you. And together we can now see. While the wind blows over both our heads.  You know, you know just that it is such a moment we’ll never forget. You and I, we will fly to the sky.  I love you (x4). Darling, we are here to stay.  We’ll be here ‘till the last day, you know it’s true.  You know all my deep love for you. Hey now, we can share all our lives.  Nurturing life ‘till it thrives.  You know it’s true.  And you know that it’s me and you. When the sun hides behind a darkened cloud; you know you know that it is still a moment where we can be proud.   You and I, there’s nothing we cannot try...

Eminem Mosh Cover

Eminem Mosh Parody President Obama, promised to close Guantanamo.  What happened, it’s still open. Prisoners going on hunger strike are still hoping.  How are they still coping? Do we really have a say in the matter?  Why do our hopes and dreams always shatter? Your opponent said food was an entitlement.  For whom?  We needed food since  the womb.  Must our leaders drive us to a collective tomb?  Elections are just a rock and a hard place.  Close your mind, vote for the smiling face.  The same one that once in will bring us disgrace.  Social security and Medicare on the chopping block?  Knock it off.  We only pay into those ourselves.  Contribute to the deficit?  Hell, what about corporations paying little or no taxes?  Sucking us dry like a bowel of molasses.  This goes largely silent.  Another scheme that’s left us more violent.  Violent because we’re blind to the needs of those no...

Hey There Monsanto (Hey There Delilah Cover)

Image
Hey there Monsanto, what’s it like destroying lives. Of course I’d never know this, but you do it in disguise. Oh yes you do.  Farmers never win when they sue you.  What can one do? Hey there Monsanto, don’t you worry for the laws. Your money speaks great volumes and covers up your flaws. Oh yes it does.  Never ask why, it’s just because.  It always was. Oh, you reap what you will sow.  Oh, you reap what you will sow Oh, you reap what you will sow.  Oh, you reap what you will sow. Hey there Monsanto, how’s your fields of vanity. I’ll never understand the start of your insanity. It’s gone too far. All on your skin is a great scar. It’s who you are. Hey there, Monsanto, how much suicides today?  Farmers forced off of their land; for your seeds they cannot pay. What’s it all worth? Must you destroy our only Earth? We knew since birth. Oh, you reap what you will sow.  Oh, you reap what you will sow. Oh, you reap...

Politically Charged Poem

Image
Politically charged, my charge is against the party Who robbed those in need to make themselves hearty. Against Citizens United. Corporations can spend without end, without being indicted? Against mega banks that are too big to fail and jail. They claim to keep us alive and healthy. Yet only they will thrive and be wealthy. Change comes from you and I.            Disagreements aside, we try. Our voice and our choice is our power. Let’s use these to help this very hour. United we stand, divided we fall. We must demand all to stand tall.

Horseshoes & Hand Grenades Poem

Image
Horseshoes & Hand Grenades  Horseshoes and hand grenades Try to stop this damn charade. It’s just one more man she played. I wish and hope and pray it ends. My heart wants to make amends. Down this road, we dread the bends. Second chances, I truly believe in. Forgive me for more than my sin. Love and hope are forever kin. Light will shine through again; Even though we don’t know when. Feelings grow anew and then? We stare off a cliff at distant shores. Fight temptation and other lures. Repair our past life’s many sores. Now I know peace at its core. I don’t need anything more. For I’ve opened this blocked door.

Cherish Poem

Image
Cherish Cherish the earth and all its pleasant things. Treasure the worth and excitement it brings. Hold tight sound knowledge of worldly events. Stand your ground without any false pretense. Give where you can, and pray when you can’t. Follow true motivation, meditate and don’t rant. Love each other, with unconditional good regard. Forgive another, becoming gentle and not hard. Stay with these guidelines and wait for your reward. This will please many others on your journey forward.

Color of Truth Poem

Image
Color of Truth Hastily led down the chosen road; we were blind. Never knowing the heavy load would leave us behind. Some turned back and much more tried in vain; They sought to find some cure to heal the pain. Lies became the horrid truth we sought to live by. Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, we thought we’d try. Yet, for all this, the color of truth never disappeared. It remained as the one best proof after the smoke cleared. To seize this color is to never be left in the dark. Shining purity and bliss forever as a needed spark. Send out all our vain desire that has kept us back. Throw them all in the fire, let the heat burn it black. From now on, we live for each and every crucial day . Searching, finding to ever reach and hold to the right way.

Reaping What Is Sown

Turning over the soil, I saw how important growing food was to me.  My eyes enjoyed the color of the different varieties of crops we grew.  The lush green squash, the cherry-red tomatoes and the bumblebees hovering around it all gave nature its crucial identity.  This was my introduction to fruit and vegetable gardening.  Living on about a third of an acre in Long Island, it was easy for one to become disconnected from nature’s inherent beauty and value.  Despite this, my family and I cherished the fruit of our labor.              I first read John Jeavons’ classic How to Grow More Vegetables Than you Ever Thought Possible on Less Land Than You Can Imagine. This familiarized me with the bio-intensive method of gardening, which taught us to grow crops close together to prevent certain diseases.  Modeling from the book, we started a 5x10 square foot ...

High Fructose Crap Syrup

An important study done on mice helps clarify the connection between high fructose corn syrup and insulin resistance.   According to Science Daily and Cell Metabolism , “Researchers showed that mice fed a high fructose diet could be protected from insulin resistance if a gene known as transcriptional coactivator PPARg coactiviator 1b (PGC1b) was “knocked down” in the animals’ liver and fat tissue.   PGC1b controls the activity of several other genes, including one responsible for burning fat in the liver.   This suggests an important role for PCG1b in the pathogenesis of fructose-induced insulin resistance.”   Natural health promoter, Dr. Mercola states that “According to the latest statistics, new cases of   diabetes have increased by 90 percent in the last 10 years , and   diabetes or pre-diabetes now strikes one in four Americans . Those are absolutely astounding statistics to say ...

Promises of Nutritional Genomics #Health #Nutrition #NutritionalGenomics

Advances in science have allowed researchers to explore the effects that different factors have on genes.   One such area of study, known as nutritional genomics, looks at how one’s nutrition can influence the behavior of their genes.   In recent years, this interesting science has exploded with extensive news coverage and research dedicated towards its progression.             Perhaps one reason why nutritional genomics is being given prominent attention is due to the breadth of topics and subtopics it includes.   Among these are: increased knowledge of the relationship between genetics and health and disease, improving healing interventions for controlling different diseases, promoting the awareness of disease risks, starting prevention tactics and many others (1).   These key areas allow the application of nutritional genomics in a wide variety of settings.   Someone with a family history of heart di...

...Justice for All?

Image
…Justice for All? Suspects wait, stone-faced in a chair. Where they’ll go?  Hope the judge will care. A jury rules with raging fury makes it blurry. Why is everyone always in such great hurry? There’s justice for all. Where did that policy go? The suspects wonder, staring out the window. The gavel’s raised high, but the morals sink down. Just like that, we have a transformation in town. Innocence experienced a cold and sudden death. No time for pondering while all hold their breath. History records the whole truth and all the lies. As for this lesson, it shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Selected Poem

Image
Selected Pile the file on top of the shelf. All the while, just think about yourself. Quicker and thicker is how it should be. It’s getting sicker, as all can now see. Racing and pacing, we always move about. Still misplacing the essential things we doubt. Keep and reap what you may choose to sow. Don’t sleep because we have to boost the show. Selected, rejected, what difference does it make? It’s who’s connected that gets to hold the stake. Seeing and being, two extremely different things. We’re dreaming about the excitement life brings. I’m lasting, fasting, and trying hard to endure. We’re blasting past any hope of a real cure. Stress and success are conflicting emotions. Yet, these caress all underlying commotions. End the day without a care for what’s difficult. Stay away from anything that yields a good result.
