Why I'm Voting for Bernie Sanders

Today more than ever we see government compromises that benefit the elite class and worsen the condition of the rest. We see absurd tax cuts and loopholes, constantly exploited by wealthy businesses, which, if they paid their fair share, could help improve society. This rarely gets the attention it deserves, but the effects are becoming increasingly noticeable. Decaying infrastructure, an educational system scrounging for funds, an unstable environment, and decreased funding for needed governmental assistance programs (Not Entitlements). Few politicians even mention these issues, much less, work to improve them. If nothing else, Bernie Sanders has done this. In Vermont, the state he has represented for 25 years, he's correctly identified these problems and has at least attempted to work towards resolutions. In 2010 he gave an 8 1/2 hour filibuster on corporate greed and its effects on society as a whole (The Speech, by Nation Books). It's worth a read. These problems have unfortunately been magnified on many levels, and few government officials have the courage and willpower to identify and correct them. No one (especially in government) is perfect, but I commend Bernie Sanders for at least taking a stand on these issues where self-indulgence is increasingly becoming the name of the game.
