Behind the Iron Curtain (poem)

Behind the iron curtain I see rays of golden light

This crystal clear vision is like having a new sight

The anger and the ugliness which I saw at first

Gradually became the beauty for which I thirst

It takes maturity to take this deeper look

But humility is a crucial chapter in our book

We all have faults and failures; this will never change

But neither will the grace that works to rearrange

I try now to listen and learn from my past

I know the light is greater than the shadows that are cast

Behind the iron curtain, is a story to be told

But the book is only opened by breaking through the mold
