Empire State of Mind

So many lives are lost to such nonsense
Many have died fighting against conquest
When we support empires of war
Someone somewhere is dying for
Our devastation to far away nations
Africa and Palestine pray for liberation
The U.S. and Israel are alone in their vote
Against Palestinians staying afloat
The rest of the world seems to know
The havoc of the seeds we sow
We are not more, they are not less
Why should they clean all of our mess
A fight over land has always been planned
By those who draw these lines in the sand
Fist in the sky, I'll always stand
When people defy their chain of command
Resources are not a reason to war with
A nation who must now forfeit
Former freedoms down the faucet
Innocent lives, that's my endorsement
Why should Africa's gold and diamonds
Be extracted and sold to tyrants?
Sadly slavery never ended
It was only slightly amended
Now we aren't bound by chains
But policies that cause great pains
If we nurtured our true worth
Greed and war would depart this Earth
