Advancing Time Poem

A poem about one of the most helpful (or harmful) aspects of our world.

Advancing Time
Time moves forward, never going back.
 We lay here in wait for the next attack.
Seasons pass and we still live on.
We wait to be moved like a chess pawn.
Tick, tock; there it goes again.
Looking at our lives, can we do it all again?
On this earth the years come and go.
Many years have passed, yet what have we to show?
Knowledge for some, treasures for others.
No matter what, we’ll always be brothers.        
Time continues, as we all know it must,
Ticking away but it will never break our trust.

My latest poem about moving an living away from home.  From the day that I left I knew it was for the best I learned a lot on my own Made efforts not to be alone Life’s had its share of ups and downs Setbacks, failures, turnarounds Yet through it all, hope shines on Brighter than the sun at dawn I know it’s not a perfect world Like one big mess in which we’re hurled So much need despite our wealth Much illness among our health And so I’m grateful for it all As I rise up from my fall There never was a better day Than the one that’s not thrown away
